Sesame-Shallot Sauce

Shallots, a relative of the onion, are an excellent source of vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, iron and protein. Use this recipe as a salad dressing or in your favorite stir-fry.

Makes 8 servings. Total preparation time: 5 minutes.


1. In a blender, purée all ingredients. Pour over a salad.

6 teaspoons raw sesame seeds
3⁄4 teaspoon crushed red pepper or 1 1⁄2 teaspoon sriracha hot sauce
6 tablespoons shallots
